New Akron accounting firm opens doors

AKRON, Ohio (March 1, 2017) — A veteran Akron-area accountant has started a new accounting and bookkeeping firm in the Portage Lakes area of Akron. The Ten Key Group was established by David Zajac, Certified Public Accountant, to deliver professional accounting and bookkeeping services to small business owners, professional service providers and individuals. Zajac, who left a Cleveland-based accounting firm to start the company, said being a small business can be a big advantage for an accounting firm working with other small businesses.

“There is value in being small. We have the opportunity to get to know each of our clients on an individual basis, and that’s very important if we are going to provide sound accounting and tax planning advice. We have to know their goals for their businesses, as individuals and for their families.”

Being small also helps keep costs down, allowing The Ten Key Group to operate with a fee structure that won’t break the bank, he said. As for small business owners who want to be DIY accountants, he advises that tax accounting is not something to do yourself.

“If you make a mistake or miss a deadline, you can incur significant fines and liabilities, and the IRS is not forgiving. I tell prospective clients that turning their accounting over to a professional might just help increase their bank account, both by the tax-saving opportunities we uncover and by freeing up their time to concentrate on revenue.”

Joining Zajac in the new business are associates Tyler Chaplin, accountant, and Sally Eisenmann, a Quickbooks Pro Certified bookkeeper. Both worked with Zajac at a previous employer. Services provided by The Ten Key Group include tax planning and preparation for C and S Corporations, LLCs, partnerships, estates and trusts; personal and business financial statements and budgeting; prepared and compiled financial statements; IRS and Ohio Department of Taxation representation; bookkeeping, bill pay and payroll; and individual 1099s and money management and bill pay for seniors.

During his 35-year career, Zajac has worked extensively with healthcare and legal professionals, small business owners and non-profit organizations in Northeast Ohio. He is a member of the Ohio Society of Certified Public Accountants, the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, and he is a graduate of The University of Akron.
